A bit of backstory from Tera, “As a child, my earliest influence by another artist was the cover of the Saturday Evening Post by Norman Rockwell. His work was engaging, realistic, clever, heart warming and even funny; he was everything I could ever hope to be as an artist. I was raised a country girl on a small farm, enjoying the quiet of nature while understanding hard work was a part of life. I spent every moment I could teaching myself how to draw. I graduated with my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1978.

For the next several decades, I was learning my craft and honing my skills while working in several different areas of art. At first, I was doing portraits and working in advertising. I also learned photography touch-up and restoration. With the start of my family, I began teaching students art and painting murals for businesses, homes, schools and churches. In my 50’s, I started taking printmaking classes at the Glassell School through the Museum of Fine Art Houston and a whole new world opened up for me. I fell in love with the smell of ink and the joy of creating woodcuts, linoleum block prints and copper etchings. Now, I work in several different media; acrylic, watercolor, oil and several areas of printmaking.

I have been fortunate to have lived in many different parts of the U.S. and South America for a time. My love for travel shows in my art.

I am very grateful for the life I have lived and the joy I find in the little things each day. My life is a simple one; gardening, teaching, taking care of my honey bees, baking and creating art in its many forms.”
